CLP Policy Officers
The CLP Policy Officer role is a varied and exciting role within your CLP. Whether you are a current CLP Policy Officer, or are interested in taking on the role in future, you can find out all about the role and its responsibilities below.
The CLP Policy Officer Role
CLP Policy Officers play a leading role in bringing the Labour Party's people-powered policy making process to life. An active CLP Policy Officer will offer members meaningful opportunities to play their part in developing Labour Party policies, and help members learn and engage with current Labour Party policy consultations and issues.
Key roles and responsibilities include organising events and discussions, making submissions to the National Policy Forum (NPF), engaging with elected representatives in your area, and supporting the submission of the CLP's motion to Annual Conference.
The Labour Training Team has produced an online training module exploring the role of the policy development process in detail and offering top tips and sources of help. Access the module using your Labour log in here.
The Policy Development Team sends a bi-monthly newsletter to CLP Policy Officers to keep them up-to-date with current policy development activity. If you are not already receiving this and would like to be added to the mailing list, please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
The Policy Development Team has also published a useful welcome pack on the role of the CLP Policy Officer which you can read in full below.
If you require accessible versions of this pack please email us at email@example.com to discuss how we can best accommodate your requirements.
