Health and Social Care
The Health and Social Care Policy Commission develops Labour policy and thinking on areas including the future of the NHS, mental health, public health and social care.
It meets regularly to consider evidence and submissions, identify challenges, and develop Labour’s policy in these areas. The members of the Policy Commission are drawn from the National Policy Forum, the Shadow Cabinet and the National Executive Committee. Its membership reflects all parts of our movement, including Labour party members, affiliated organisations and elected politicians.
The Commission will be looking at the issue of health inequalities over the coming year. Health inequalities can have negative effects on physical health, mental health and life expectancy and is a substantial challenge to our health system. This is a wide ranging issue, and will encompass a number of areas, including the impact of health inequalities on particular communities within our society.
We will be publishing a consultation paper in 2018.
