Widening Health inequalities and our policy

South West Bedfordshire constituency Labour Party believes that a decade of austerity has led to widening health inequalities which left the UK shockingly exposed to unacceptable mortality, morbidity, and economic costs during the Covid-19 pandemic. Professor Marmot was commissioned by the last Labour Government to review health inequalities and the Health Foundation arranged subsequent reviews after ten years. The resulting report shows the depths and the damage of inequalities in Britain today. We therefore propose that the recommendations of the Institute of Health Equity, led by Professor Marmot, in their Report of December 2020, "Build Back Fairer", will be adopted in full as Labour Party policy.
