Shabana Mahmood was recently elected to Labour's National Executive Committee and sits on the Communities Policy Commission. She is the Member of Parliament for Birmingham Ladywood and made history in becoming one of the first Muslim women to be elected to Parliament in 2010. Shabana was previously in the Shadow Treasury team in the role of Shadow Chief Secretary to the Treasury and now actively pursues areas where her expertise can be used to its fullest extent. She is Chair of the PLP Justice Group and is currently a member of the Party Reform Working Group for BME representation and is currently hosting a series of consultation events across the country to inform this work.
